37 YRS. WE LIVED IN ARMY BARRACKS BEHIND ASARCO. WE WERE MOVED DOWN BELOW TO WHAT THEY CALLED NOW EL ESMELDA.I WENT TO EB JONES, NAMED FOR MR.EDWARD BROOK JONES. THE PRINCIPAL WAS ESTELLE HARPER.I WAS AN ALTAR
BOY AT SAN JOSE CRISTO REY PRIEST WAS MONSIGNIOR COSTA,PADRE EMILIO RHODE. WE AS KIDS HELPED BUILD THE ROAD TO CRISTO REY MTN WITH JOE ARTIAGA,AND MANY OTHER KIDS. WE USED TO TAKE LUNCH TO ALOT OF WORKERS,
AND HAD ALOT OF FUN. I NEVER GOT SICK FROM ANY SO CALLED FUMES PEOPLE.
AND CITY COMLPAINED SO MUCH???????????? MY HOME WAS CALLED LE BENEFICA
WHERE PEOPLE WOULD GET WATER FOR DRINK. I KNOW MANY TRUE STORIES OF ASARCO,SMELTER, WE ALL WERE CALLED BY A NICKNAME. I WAS CALLED FATSO.
