
In the loteria styled “Best Of” edition of the Orange County Weekly, Sara Guerrero and Elsa Martinez Phillips were prominently featured in the Arts & Culture section. Both women belong to the grassroots Breath of Fire Latina community theater group and their distinction as ‘Las Directoras’ this year in the Weekly is well deserved for their tireless work. In the article profile by Daffodil J. Altan, Guerrero informs readers how she was initially inspired to create a space for theater that truly reflects the community of Santa Ana and Orange County as a whole. My favorite quote is when she says “I wish the city wouldn’t act like the Artists Village is the thing that’s ‘saving’ Santa Ana. Things have been happening here all along and will continue to happen here.” Damn skippy!
