With all that has transpired in Anaheim over the past few days, cartoonista Lalo Alcaraz perfectly meshes the coexistence of the rapacious epicenter of greed and illusion that is Disneyland with the city’s effective police state. Who gets targeted and left behind in all this? Latino youth. The so-called scrimmage line set up by the Anaheim riot police outside of City Hall on Tuesday said it all. The forces of the state “protecting” the visible lair where the anonymity of the developer/corporatist class has driven Anaheim to its current crisis is everything anyone needs to know. Analysis somewhat along those lines comes in the form of Gustavo Arellano‘s news story in this week’s print edition of the OC Weekly. That’s where you’ll find Alcaraz’s illustration accompanying it.
